Meeting began at 8:10
The following officers
were present: Sue Guthrie (President),
Ed Ridolph (Vice
President), Randy Humphrey (Treasurer), Kim Kahant
(Secretary). 24 members of the community attended.
Minutes of the previous meeting, December 14, 2006,
were read and accepted: Sara Ridolph 1st,
Barbara Olsen 2nd.
Treasurer’s
Report:
Randy Humphrey was not present. He sent handouts that
were distributed for review. There was discussion about
the dues being raised to $30.00.
Old & New Business:
Ed Ridolph discussed
requirements for scholarship. No-one has applied
this year. This is the
same every year. We get one or two highly qualified
applicants at the last minute. The school board @ John
I Leonard chooses the winner.
There was discussion
about replacing the glass in the bathroom window. Lake
Worth Glass will charge $280.00 + tax. He will come and
measure.
He is using
tempered glass that will not break as easily. He will
do it as
soon as he can
get out to measure it.
Advertisements for the
BBQ were sent to Lucerne
Lakes
and St. Luke’s Church to put in their newsletters.
Richard and Cheryl
Smart will be helping with picture on Marquee.
No permit is
needed because we are only replacing the old sign.
Discussion was made
about the website. The website will continue.
Crime watch,
newsletters and other helpful information is posted at
www.floridagardens.org.
Sunday Feb. 4th
will be the Super Bowl party. Daniel Bouchard will
host. Patty Burk will help.
Bring a covered dish,
enjoy 50/50/raffle and enjoy the game.
There was discussion
about the Christmas decoration awards and
contest winners.
Randy needs to write a check to Sue & Bruce Meleismoen
at 20 W. Plumosa. The following streets donated their
winnings back
to the marquee:
20 W. Pinetree,
99 Cleveland,
67 Canton,
127 Cypress, (Danny
Hatcher),
308 Akron,
44 Rubbertree,
19 W. Arch,
103 W. Rubbertree
(Lynn Carpenter).
Discussion was made
about the crime at the nightclub at the beginning
of the neighborhood.
It was discussed to turn in the nightclub, but someone
stated they think they had been closed. Randy will
check into it. He is not
sure if they will renew
the lease. Crime watch needs to be put into place.
It is definitely a
problem. Matt Lacharite has agreed to run the crime
watch committee.
There has been a
problem with the kids from the bus stop here at the
Clubhouse. There has been vandalism again, some writing
on the door
and broken drain
spouts. If this happens again we will have to have the
bus stop moved. There
was discussion about cameras for the clubhouse.
It was decided not to
have a talent show at the BBQ. Jack Doyle was
complaining that there was not enough residents showing
up at the
meetings to volunteer
at the BBQ. It is the same people every year.
He suggests if we do
not get more volunteers we should put an ad in the
newsletter stating we will have to stop the newsletter
and special events.
Sara Ridolph agrees
that we need a larger group of people to commit.
Motion to adjourn:
Tony Basso 1st, John Torres 2nd.
Meeting adjourned at
9:00 P.M.
Minutes completed by
Kimberly Kahant.
