Minutes of the Meetings

May 11, 2006

 

Meeting began at 8:10 p.m.

The following officers were present:  Sue Guthrie (President), Kathie Hockenbury

(Secretary), Ed Ridolph (Vice President), Randy Humphrey (Treasurer). 13 residents attended the meeting.

Michelle Bradford attended the meeting and was presented with this years scholarship for $1000.00.  She was the only qualified applicant, due to community service hours.  She will receive $500.00 in September and the other $500.00 in January.  Her picture was taken with Ed Ridolph and Sue Guthrie.

Minutes of the previous meeting, April 13, 2006 were read and accepted;  Kim Kahant 1st, Sara Ridolph 2nd.

 Treasurer’s Report:

A review of the Treasurer’s report was presented by Randy Humphrey. Discussion of the BBQ stating that there was no profit made, but everyone had lots of fun.  Motion to accept: Barbara Olsen 1st, Sarah Ridolph 2nd.

 Old & New Business:

Bobbie Boynton and Paula Corso were present from Palm Beach County Code Enforcement.  Residents need to be pro-active.  Residents need to call in complaints to 233-5500.  Reasons to call: boats, RV’s (recreational vehicles), businesses being run out of homes (phone only with one other person not related) without a permit, open pools (given 24 hours to get temporary barrier), inoperable vehicles (must be out back & must run), trailers (must be on side or out back), fences (permit required, no inspection necessary), hedges (4ft in front, 8 foot on sides except for ficus which can be 12ft.), and standing dead trees (neighbor from adjoining lot must complain, trees must be removed).

 All calls are responded to within 5 to 7 days.  You can reach Bobbie directly @ 233-5281, Tuesday thru Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Joanne Ferititta has been working on the complaints that have been made.  Paula Corso is assigned to our area.  Top complaints are:  Roofing without permits ( they have been generous about giving extra time to get permits), fence without permits, open pools, inoperable cars.  For tree and Vegetation removal you must call  561-233-2400.  Complaints can be made anonymously.

For stop signs out call road and bridge department @ 684-4000.  Linda Spatara will get the e-mail information.

 There was also discussion about the homeless in the area at the corner of Akron and Lake Worth Road and the church on Lake Worth Road.  They warned about being cautious in your approach to vagrants.  If you post no trespassing signs and have an affidavit on file they will be asked to leave the first time.  They will be offered a shelter.  The second time there is a call, they will be arrested. Bobbie will call the Sheriff’s office for community policing.

There was discussion about the bus stop on Lake Worth Road being on someone’s property.  Palm Tran will be called. Other complaints included: Vacant lots: grass can’t be more than 12” high.Trash behind Newspaper stands and Goodwill box.  Handled by Cindy Mcdougal. Chickens are not allowed east of 441. Property owners said Hess will not go in at corner of Lake Worth Rd. and Akron.  They Want a Christian School. Lester cleared old the trash and Angela landscaped new sign on April 28th.  The neighbor that lives next door agreed to water plants.  Dean Craven is Web Master, Alice will not be his partner.  No free advertising, all adds there anyway. Trees and bushes trimmed at clubhouse. Gary Oliwa fixed verticles and reinforced door. Bathrooms to be fixed.  New door knobs. Kitchen door needs to be fixed. Discussion of dues and how best to collect.  Should street reps. go door to door?  Possibility of sending letters. Lisette Neeb new street rep. for Mango. Dave Stanley returned table and chairs day of BBQ. Jack Doyle needs help to rearrange tables in back room.  Some neighborhood kids will help. Kathy Hockenbury resigned.  Kim Kahant to replace her as Secretary. Kim Kahant reported on breaking and entering on Palmetto Rd.  Lisette Neeb reported on truck being broken into on Mango with $3000.00 worth of tools stolen.  Today there was a grey Saturn in front of her house.  She called police.  Community Garage Sale June 17th.  Lisette Neeb interested in neighborhood crime watch.  She will contact Sheriff’s office to come to next meeting.  Next meeting June 8th @ 8:00 p.m. Thanks to Bobbie and Paula for coming.  Keep up the good work!  Thanks to all the volunteers at the BBQ.
