Minutes of the Meeting

September 13, 2008

Meeting began at 8:20 p.m.

The following officers were present:  Sue Guthrie (President), Ed Ridolph (Vice President), and Kimberly Kahant (Secretary), 16 member of the community attended.

Minutes of the previous meeting, June 14, 2007, were read and accepted: Sandra Dale 1st, Matt Lacharite 2nd.

Treasurer’s Report:

Randy Humphrey was not present, but sent handouts that were passed out.

Old & New Business:

Since we took off for July and August, not much has been done.  Hopefully now we can get back in the swing of things.

Marcia Humphrey replaced the U.S. flag and Mrs. Beachler, who’s husband established Florida Gardens, donated the “We Support Our Troops” flag.  Sue Guthrie bought the Florida flag and Tony Basso put them up.

Matt Lacharite dug the hole for the footer.  Sandy feels that we are spending money and not getting the marquee done first.  Randy Humphrey is out of town.  Matt Lacharite will call Callaway so we can get moving on the marquee.

There was discussion about the cost of the newsletter and whether we should continue to print it.

A security light was placed at the corner on the pole closest to the sign. Tim & Donna Bradford helped get the light.  Lester has been grooming around the sign.  The “E” in established needs to be replaced on the sign and the paint touched up.  Pete will take care of this.

Marcia Humphrey has been painting at the clubhouse and Angela Yow did some landscaping.

There was discussion about a dues committee. Sandra Dale, Jack Doyle, Angie Vermudez, Laura, and Angela Yow will help start a dues drive.

There was discussion about getting a committee together for the Chili Cook-off.  Patti Burke will head the committee and Angie Yow will help.  The date will be Saturday, Dec. 1st.  There will be an entry fee and home made chili.  It was decided that it would be good to have other booths as well.

There was discussion about an entertainment committee to set up different get togethers for the community.  We would all like to see the neighborhood get together more often, like we used to.  Jack Doyle, Angie Yow, and Lauren Mailie will work together on this.

John Provenzano presented asking about having a 3 hour Darfor Band show to raise money for awareness.  He will submit a proposal.

Crime Watch:

Matt Lacharite discussed crime watch.  There were 22 people present at the June meeting. Discussion was made to talk to Randy Humphrey about being able to donate strictly to crime watch.  Discussion was made to talk to Dean Craven about surveillance.  There was discussion about the stabbing that happened in our neighborhood today.  Matt would like to have a separate date for crime watch meetings.  He feels that more people will attend.  There was discussion about the decals for the cars and whether everyone should pay for them. Kim Kahant will take care of decals.  It was discussed that each household would receive one free and then buy the extra ones needed for extra cars. The next crime watch meeting will be Oct. 2nd @ 7:00 pm.

The next homeowners meeting will be Oct. 11th @ 8:00 pm.

Motion to adjourn:  Sandy Mann 1st, Matt Lacharite 2nd.
